Installed
in an optimum position to capture the sun's rays, the box like structure
contains a selectively coated copper absorber plate lying underneath a double glazed
surface window. Below the absorber plate is a layer of mineral wool which helps
retain the heat in the unit.
The water from the collector is
circulated via a thermostatically controlled pump, passing through the heating
coil of a specially adapted domestic hot water cylinder where the heat is
transferred.
