The name "Gwires", pronounced gwi'rez, is taken from the Cornish word meaning alcoholic spirit. The essence of all Ninemaidens drinks lies in the delicacy of our unique Cornish flora. From this nectar source, our honey is fermented to produce mead of the highest quality, and thereafter distilled into a clean, honey scented spirit. Gwires is a crystal clear, vibrant drink with a floral, honeyed bouquet and a warm rounded finish.

Gwires will available for the first time to the general public at Helston Farmer’s market on May 1st; this will be the event where it goes on sale for the first time in the county." The partners hope the spirit will be available through current stockists of their products, plus new outlets and via the internet. Having been involved with Helston Farmers Market from the outset, and having watched it grow from strength to strength to become the best in the county, they'd like to offer those loyal customers the opportunity to have a free sample taste of "Gwires" on May 1st as a small token of their gratitude.
